SOPA: Reaktion von Motion Picture Association of America zum Blackout Day

Der Filmverband Motion Picture Association of America war maßgeblich an SOPA beteiligt. Nachdem heute diverse Internetseiten aus Protest schwarz bleiben findet das Chris Dodd, Geschäftsführer der MPAA, gar nicht gut:

…A so-called “blackout” is yet another gimmick, albeit a dangerous one, designed to punish elected and administration officials who are working diligently to protect American jobs from foreign criminals. It is our hope that the White House and the Congress will call on those who intend to stage this “blackout” to stop the hyperbole and PR stunts and engage in meaningful efforts tocombat piracy…

SOPA – The day the LOLcats die

Mal sehen, wie lange wir uns in Deutschland noch an diesem Video erfreuen dürfen:

Momentan scheint es, als ob SOPA auf Eis gelegt ist. Was nicht heisst, dass es nicht in anderer Form wieder kommen wird. Und PIPA und ACTA (das europäische Pendant) gibt es ja auch noch. Es wird nicht langweilig werden. Obwohl SOPA ein amerikanisches Gesetz ist, hat es weitreichende Auswirkungen auf das Internet als solches. Viele Firmen sind gegen das “Stop Online Piracy Act” (SOPA) getaufte Gesetz, darunter Google, Reddit, Facebook, Twitter, Wikipedia. Auch in Deutschland schalten einige Webseiten wie Spreeblick, DaMax, Kotzendes Einhorn, Nerdcore (crackajack) heute ihre Seiten schwarz und weisen auf die Wichtigkeit des Handelns hin.
